Hillsville man killed in motorcycle crash in Smyth County, police said

Virginia State Police said a Hillsville man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Smyth County on July 14.

SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police say a Hillsville man was killed in a motorcycle crash July 14 in Smyth County.

According to VSP, 36-year-old Carl L. Coe was riding a 2020 Harley Davidson Road Glide south on I-81 near mile marker 48 at around 3:52 p.m. Sunday when he drove off the left side of the road and struck a railing.

Coe was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to VSP, the accident is still under investigation and Coe was wearing a helmet.
