According to a White House spokesman, the suspect and at least one attendee were killed, while two others were injured. Trump was visibly bleeding from his right ear as he was carried off the stage. He later said he was “fine” and was being checked out. He described the moment he realized something was wrong when a bullet pierced the top of his right ear.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is leading the investigation, said: “The FBI has assumed the role of lead federal law enforcement agency in the investigation of the incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, involving former President Donald Trump.”

Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, thanked law enforcement and emergency responders for their quick response. The Secret Service, represented by Anthony Guglielmi, confirmed the incident and said the investigation is ongoing and Trump is safe.
