Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Princess Anne is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Princess Royal, 73, was confirmed to have sustained injuries in an “incident” at the royal estate of Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire on Sunday evening (June 23).

No further details were given.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate last night. Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation as a precautionary measure and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.”

The update goes on to say that King Charles III has also been informed of his sister’s poor health: “(He) joins the entire Royal Family in sending the Princess his warmest love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.”

Anne’s injuries come at a time when the royal family is in poor health. Earlier this year, King Charles announced to the public that he had been diagnosed with an unknown form of cancer and was currently undergoing treatment.

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has also taken a break from the public eye after she was also diagnosed with cancer.

Although she has not yet taken up her official duties, Kate appeared at the Trooping of the Colour earlier this month.

Fans were delighted to see the Princess of Wales taking part in the celebrations in a royal dress and smiling with her children.

Kate posted an update on her health on social media, telling her followers: “I’m making good progress but as anyone going through chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days.”

“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and need to give your body a rest. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of your well-being. My treatment is still ongoing and will continue for a few more months. On the days when I feel well enough, it is a pleasure to participate in school life, spend my personal time doing things that give me energy and positive energy, and also work a little from home,” she added.
