First Alert Traffic | Heat-related damage leads to closure of part of US 119

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Repairs were being made on a section of U.S. 119 North in Boone County Tuesday evening after heat damage closed northbound lanes, the county’s emergency dispatch center said.

According to West Virginia 511, the damage occurred near the intersection with Big Pinnacle Branch Road, just north of Julian.

According to dispatchers, the road, also known as Corridor G, has expanded and broken into large pieces of concrete. The damage was reported shortly before 6 p.m.

To avoid traffic jams, drivers are instructed to use the hard shoulder.
