Man dies in collision with delivery truck driver

CLINTON, Maryland – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred early Tuesday morning in Clinton.

Officers from the Forestville Barracks and Prince George’s County EMS responded to an intersection near Branch Avenue and Kirby Road shortly after 3:30 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motorist. When they arrived on scene, they found a man dead.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford Transit van was traveling south on Branch Avenue when the man was struck. The driver remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with police. No information has been released about any charges against the driver.

The man killed has not yet been identified.

The accident is still under investigation, but police said they do not believe driving under the influence of alcohol played a role.
