NB-News: 25-year-old man arrested after alleged sexual assault

A 25-year-old man originally from India but living in Halifax, NS, was arrested following alleged sexual assault in Moncton.

According to an RCMP news release, officers responded to a report of sexual harassment and sexual assault at a public water park on Mountain Road in Moncton around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

A man was walking around the area and groping people, police said. There were at least 12 victims, some of them under the age of 16.

RCMP said they located and arrested the person who was still on the premises. He was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on Oct. 24.

“The investigation is ongoing and we are working hard to determine if there were any other victims,” said Sergeant Sylvette Hebert of the Codiac Regional RCMP in the press release. “We ask parents to speak to their children if they were at that location on July 7. We also want people to know that they can report sexual assault at any time. If you are a victim of sexual abuse, please contact us. We will listen to you and believe you.”

If you are a victim or have information about this or similar incidents, please contact your local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
