Woman arrested for arson on Tinder date now accused of sexual assault on TGK, cops say

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – A woman already in prison for attempted murder and arson after setting fire to her Tinder date last November, according to Miami-Dade police, is now facing sexual assault charges.

Destiny Lenai Johnson, 26, is accused of sexually assaulting another inmate over the weekend at the county’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She has been held there since Dec. 4, 2023, awaiting trial.

Johnson, then 25, was accused of setting fire to a man she met on Tinder after meeting him outside the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kendall East, 11520 N. Kendall Drive, on Nov. 25, 2023. She is also accused of setting fire to the man’s car.

Miami-Dade police said the sexual assault occurred on Saturday.

A police report states that the victim was taking a shower shortly before 7:30 p.m. when Johnson entered her stall “and touched her breast and vagina.”

According to police, Johnson then leaned forward and kissed the victim’s “pubic area,” after which other inmates became aware of him and reported the attack to correctional officers, who separated and relocated the two inmates.

A judge ruled on Monday that there was sufficient evidence to charge Johnson with sexual abuse.

As for the case that initially sent Johnson to prison, she remains charged with attempted murder and arson. Miami-Dade court records show prosecutors declined to file charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

These documents indicate that a court hearing in this case is scheduled for August 12.

Johnson is still being held at the TGK without bail as of Monday morning.
