North Galveston boat dock accident: Coast Guard suspends search for *1 missing boater after 3 hospitalized and 1 boater dies

GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a second missing boater after another was found dead following a boating accident on a pier north of Galveston on Friday.

According to Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch, emergency crews found the body of the first missing boater around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The accident occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Friday when five adults were still on the boat. As of 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, officials said they were still searching for two adults.

On Sunday, the USCG called off the search for the other missing boater.

Families of the victims expressed fear that the approaching weather could prevent the Coast Guard from locating their loved ones as Beryl approaches the Texas coast.

The three rescued adults were taken to hospital. The condition and extent of their injuries are currently unknown.
