First level weather warning: Record heat may continue this weekend

Compared to yesterday, we have retained more moisture and for longer, which has helped to keep our high temperatures under control. However, the excess moisture will also keep our temperatures elevated during the nighttime hours.

The heat warning will remain in effect until 9pm Wednesday as highs continue to rise above 43°C and possibly above 49°C again. Daytime highs will depend heavily on subtle factors such as humidity and wind direction. Always be sure to wear heat protection!

Temperatures aren’t expected to drop significantly during the first half of next week. However, we may see a slight cooldown by next weekend as there are signs of more monsoon moisture. Regardless, highs will continue to be well above average and above 110°. We also have the potential to hit or break some records on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
