Virginia man arrested for allegedly attacking his female companion

A Virginia man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his traveling companion.

A witness reported to Sumter County Sheriff’s officials that a man, later identified as 60-year-old Ritchie Lee Triplett of Winchester, Virginia, choked a woman traveling with him in a truck as they pulled into the parking lot of Love’s Travel Stop in Bushnell around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

When a deputy intervened, the woman was crying and Triplett, who is 6 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds, admitted to choking her, according to a police report.

The woman told MPs there had been “great tension between them”.

Triplett was arrested for assault. He was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,500 bail.
