Shooting in Chicago: 2 women killed, 3 boys seriously injured on Woodlawn Avenue in Grand Crossing, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — Two women were killed and three children seriously injured in a shooting in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on Thursday morning, Chicago police said.

The shooting occurred in the 7100 block of South Woodlawn at about 6:15 a.m.

According to police, two vehicles drove up in front of a residential building, several people got out and started shooting.

Two women, aged 42 and 22, were killed and three boys, aged five, seven and eight, were seriously injured and taken to Como Children’s Hospital.

According to police, there was a personal dispute prior to the shooting; the investigation is ongoing.

Cartridge casings from a pistol and a rifle were recovered at the crime scene.

Detectives from Area 1 are investigating, but no one is in custody.
