Two more children of the mother of a missing 8-year-old found

Two children who were issued an Amber Alert for “child abduction” on Friday evening were rescued, Columbus police announced at a press conference less than half an hour later.

The children were reportedly possibly with a Columbus woman whose other son, 8-year-old Martonio Wilder, was reported missing Thursday and who was herself wanted by police authorities on suspicion of murder in a nationwide BOLO.

The children at the center of the short-lived Amber alert – 3-year-old King Wilder and 9-year-old Mikhael Simon – have been recovered, Sergeant James Fuqua, a Columbus police spokesman, said Friday night at a hastily arranged news conference at the Division of Police headquarters downtown.

Her mother, Lashanda D. Wilder, 32, is also the mother of missing 8-year-old Martonio Wilder. Martonio was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Olmstead and St. Clair avenues in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood, the Columbus Police Department’s Missing Persons Division reported.

On Friday evening, Columbus police issued a wanted alert for Lashanda Wilder to local law enforcement, listing her as a murder suspect and saying she may be traveling with her two other children.

The BOLO report, which was distributed through Columbus police, Delaware County and other law enforcement channels, did not indicate whether the murder suspect, Lashonda Wilder, was her missing son. Columbus police homicide investigators could not be reached Friday evening.

Fuquat told a Dispatch reporter in a text message shortly after 9 p.m. that Lashonda Wilder was “not a suspect,” without elaborating at the time.

Lashanda Wilder was described as a black female, 5’7″ tall, 220 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red hat, black t-shirt, black pants and red slippers. According to the radio broadcast, police had no information on what vehicle she was in.

According to police, Martonio Wilder was wearing a black T-shirt and camouflage pajama pants. He is 90 cm tall, weighs 34 kg and has black hair and brown eyes.
