Shooting in Dayton, Ohio, ends Monday with the suspect dead and four victims with non-life-threatening injuries

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One person was killed and four others injured in a shooting Monday night in west Dayton.

On Monday around 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Genesee Avenue because several people had reportedly been shot.


Dayton Police Lt. Steven Bauer confirmed that both an 11-year-old child and a 35-year-old woman were found at the scene. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 36-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were taken to the hospital alone. Bauer said both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, a 42-year-old man, was also taken to hospital where he later died.

According to Bauer, the suspect was the husband of one of those shot.

The incident remains under investigation.
