City of Fresno provides update on investigation into Police Chief Paco Balderrama

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – The City of Fresno will provide an update on the investigation into Police Chief Paco Balderrama.

The press conference will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Balderrama is currently on paid administrative leave while allegations of an inappropriate off-duty relationship are investigated. Action News has learned from multiple sources that the “inappropriate off-duty relationship” involved the wife of a Fresno police officer.

Fresno city officials said they first learned of the allegation from Balderrama himself in February.

The city attorney would not confirm when the investigation into Balderrama officially began, but the city made it public on June 6.

Action News also confirmed that Balderrama applied for the position of police chief in Austin, Texas, after the allegations became known.
