In 2020, nine men in four groups raped a 15-year-old girl in a park, but the German court released eight of them on probation. Outraged, a young woman from Hamburg wrote to one of the perpetrators that he was a “dishonest rapist pig”. The woman has now been sentenced by the court.

A 20-year-old woman from Hamburg has to spend a weekend in prison after making “hateful” remarks towards an offender involved in the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl.

The woman is just one of 140 people investigated for making “offensive remarks” about rapists, The Publica reports.

The horrific attack occurred in 2020, when several groups of men independently attacked a 15-year-old girl in Hamburg’s Stadtpark on one night. The park became a popular hangout for young people during COVID-19 closures, and the girl was hanging out there with her friends, Germany’s RND reported on the incident.

After police combed the park, the youths dispersed. The girl was separated from her friends when four men attacked her. The men took turns raping the girl and took her wallet and cell phone before leaving her.

Traumatised and confused by the first attack and unable to call for help, she was attacked a second time by two other men who took advantage of her vulnerability.

The attackers used their chat groups to encourage other men to rape them and happily shared the news that a teenager was alone and without witnesses in a dark park.

The girl was attacked a third time by a man, then a fourth time by three other men who dragged her into a bush and sexually assaulted her. Eventually, the girl managed to free herself and escape, despite her rapists chasing her. He managed to meet people who recognized his traumatized state and immediately called the police.

A total of eleven men were initially charged, but two were quickly acquitted due to a lack of DNA evidence. Police identified the sperm of nine men on the victim’s body.

Five of the men had German passports, the others were not German citizens. Among the rapists were a Pole, an Egyptian, a Libyan, a Kuwaiti, an Iranian, an Armenian, an Afghan, a Syrian and a Montenegrin, Publica reports. The men had a team of 20 defense lawyers.

The first and third rape videos were recorded by the perpetrators and shared with friends via WhatsApp, but they were deleted before the case could be heard in court. Witnesses who had seen the footage before it was deleted said it clearly showed sexual violence.

However, despite the DNA and WhatsApp evidence, eight of the nine convicted men were released on parole.

The ninth was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison without parole.

The case sparked outrage in Germany, both because of the brutality of the rape and the lenient sentences imposed on the rapists. As a result, the identity and telephone number of one of the men became known.

Angry at the news of the incident, a 20-year-old woman from Hamburg sent a message to the number via WhatsApp. The unnamed woman called the man a “dishonest rapist pig” and a “disgusting pervert”. He added: “Aren’t you ashamed when you look in the mirror?”

The rapist then reported the woman to the police, who was charged with sending abusive messages.

The woman has now been convicted and must spend a weekend in prison because of her comments.

The woman apologised in court for her comments, saying she acted “reflexively” after hearing the sickening details of the incident.

But according to the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, the woman is not the only one who faces punishment for insulting the perpetrators. The Hamburg authorities are investigating 140 people for “insulting, threatening or other discrimination” against the perpetrators in the city park.
