1 dead and 1 injured after shooting during walk in La Puente

Two people were shot while walking in Los Angeles County early Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting occurred shortly after 3:50 a.m. at the intersection of Amar Road and Witzman Drive, near the city limits of La Puente and Valinda.

Both victims, who were walking together when the shots were fired, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. One of the two was pronounced dead on arrival, while the other is in stable condition, Sergeant Brent Del Valle of the Industry Sheriff’s Station confirmed to KTLA.

It is not known whether the shooting was related to gang violence, and none of the victims have been identified.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.
