Newport Police Department mourns the death of an officer

The Newport Police Department is mourning the death of Officer Marty McKinley. The department posted on social media Wednesday: “Recognizing the importance of ensuring privacy and respect during this challenging time, we are allowing space for healing and paying tribute out of consideration” to his family and loved ones. “The department has not said how McKinley died. In the post, the department also thanked community members for their support and tributes. “We are deeply moved by the outpouring of support, kind words and beautiful images shared in Marty’s memory are a testament to his impact on our lives community, and we are grateful for your support during this difficult time,” the post reads. Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman posted on X. Formerly known as Twitter, he sent his support to McKinley’s family and colleagues. “He was known for his kindness and as an example of service to his community and colleagues,” Coleman said.
