Report: Israeli seriously injured in shooting after invasion of Qalqilya in the West Bank

According to media reports and Palestinian security sources, a Jewish Israeli was shot and seriously injured while driving in the West Bank town of Qalqilya.

Palestinian security sources told the Ynet news site that the man was subsequently taken to an Israeli ambulance by the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Pictures circulated on social media showing his vehicle on fire after the attack.

The circumstances of why the Israeli came to Qalqilya remain unclear. For security reasons and because of political concerns, Israeli civilians are prohibited from entering Palestinian-controlled areas.

This incident followed shortly after a separate security operation in Qalqilya, where Israeli police announced the deaths of two wanted Palestinians identified as members of the terrorist group Islamic Jihad. The raid, carried out a day before the shooting, underscores ongoing security problems and tensions in the region.
