Edo PDP denies suspension of Ogbeide-Ihama

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State has described the alleged suspension of former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, from the party as null and void.

The PDP Local Government Chairman, Mr. Oduwa Igbinosun, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday after an extraordinary executive committee meeting of the party in Benin City.

Igbinosun stated that the attention of local government officials was drawn to the alleged displacement of Ogbeide-Ihama by a faceless group led by one Lawrence Aguebor, which, according to Igbinosun, prompted the leaders to set the record straight.

He explained that the said Lawrence, as a former official of the municipality, did not have the authority to suspend or expel anyone.

Igbinosun added that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had extended the tenure of all elected executives and made arrangements for them to serve as a caretaker committee.

At that time, the officials of PDD District 2 in the local administrative area of Oredo also distanced themselves from the alleged suspension and expulsion of the deputy, who had served two terms.

The District Secretary, Mr Jesuobo Obadigie, who stated this on behalf of the executives, said that no such incidents had taken place in the district.

“Honorable Omoregie Ogbeide-ihama remains not just a member but a prominent and formidable leader of the party and continues to enjoy the full support of the members in Ward 2.

“It is to be expected that anyone who loves the party at this time will be focused on measures that will unite the party before the gubernatorial election in September.

“This is to warn troublemakers and fraudsters to desist from their criminal and divisive activities that have the potential to cause harm,” Igbinosun warned.

Also, the chairman of the PDP in the district, Prince Elemah, said he had not signed any document against the former federal lawmaker, adding: “Ogbeide-Ihama remains our leader and a bona fide member.”
