Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival will not return in 2024

After performing annually from 1994 to 2005 at various Atlanta venues, Music Midtown returned from a six-year hiatus in 2011 to a new home, Piedmont Park, where it operated for the better part of a decade. While the 2020 edition of the festival was canceled due to the pandemic, it returned to Piedmont Park in 2021. In 2022, however, the festival was canceled just over a month ahead of schedule.

A statement at the time from organizers cited “undisclosed circumstances beyond our control” as the catalyst for the cancellation, although various reports speculated that the decision came down to a dead end regarding Georgia’s gun laws and the festival’s legal inability to enforce a “no guns” policy. politics at Piedmont Park.
