WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris has met with an Israeli lawyer who publicly reported being sexually assaulted during a hostage situation in Gaza. Harris said Monday that story left her fearing that there will “only be more such reports as more hostages are released.” Hosting an event highlighting efforts to reduce conflict-related sexual violence around the world, the vice president said she spoke with Amit Soussana, who was abducted from her home on Oct. 7 as Hamas attacked Israel. Soussana described to The New York Times how she was sexually assaulted during her hostage situation in Gaza before being released along with a group of other hostages during a ceasefire in November.
