THIS HAPPENED AROUND 6:30 PM IN MCGOVERN PARK. 12 NEWS REPORTER EMILY POFAHL SPEAKED TO THE DEVASTATED FAMILY. A FAMILY GENERATION FOR A FATHER’S DAY PICNIC TURNED INTO A TRAGEDY SUNDAY EVENING. THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS A DRIVER HIT AND KILLED A TWO-YEAR-OLD CHILD IN MCGOVERN PARK. LONG LIVE MY COUSIN, MAN! FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE TWO YEAR OLD SAY THE CHILD WAS A BOY AND WE WANT JUSTICE FOR OUR LITTLE COUSIN BECAUSE OUR FAMILY IS SUFFERING. WITNESSES SAY THE DRIVER WAS IN THIS WHITE TRUCK DRIVING FAST INTO THE PARKING LOT WHEN HE HIT THE CHILD. SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS IT HAPPENED AROUND 6:30 AM. SHERIFF’S DEPUTY AND MILWAUKEE POLICE OFFICERS WERE ON SCENE FOR HOURS SUNDAY NIGHT ATTENDING THE ACCIDENT AND PLACED YELLOW EVIDENCE MARKERS AROUND THIS WHITE TRUCK AND ALSO PLAYED BASKETBALL WITH THEM. A COUPLE OF GUYS AND ALL OF US HEARD A SCREAM, AND I GUESS THE TRUCK THAT’S OVER THERE, THE WOMAN IN THE TRUCK HIT THE CHILD. WITNESSES SAY THE DRIVER STAYED ON SCENE AFTER THE COLLISION. FAMILY MEMBERS TELL 12 NEWS THEY DON’T KNOW WHO THE DRIVER IS. THE LADY WAS SPEEDING THROUGH THE, UM, THROUGH THE PARKING LOT, AND MY COUSIN JUST GOT HIT, AND I WAS RIGHT THERE. WHILE THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONTINUES TO INVESTIGATE, OFFICIALS HAVE NOT RELEASED ANY FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT THE COLLISION, SUCH AS WHETHER IT WAS AN ACCIDENT OR WHETHER THE DRIVER WILL BE CHARGED IN MILWAUKEE, EMILY POFAHL, WISN 12 NEWS. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said it happened on June 16 at around 6:30 p.m.

A 2-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a car in McGovern Park in Milwaukee around 6:30 p.m. on June 16, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. The Milwaukee County Coroner says they were called to the scene of the crash regarding a boy. Witnesses say the driver was in a white truck and was driving at a high rate of speed through the parking lot in McGovern Park when she struck the boy. It appears the driver remained at the scene after the collision. “We want justice for our little cousin because our family is hurting,” said cousin Deaidra Gren. Family members told WISN 12 News they do not know who the driver is. 12 News is not releasing the child’s name at this time as the Sheriff’s Office works to notify the family. While the Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, officials have not yet released any information about what led to the collision or if charges have been filed against the driver.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, a two-year-old boy was hit by a car in McGovern Park in Milwaukee on June 16 at around 6:30 p.m.

The Milwaukee County coroner said they were called to the scene because of a young boy.

According to witnesses, the driver was driving a white truck and was driving at high speed through the parking lot in McGovern Park when she struck the boy. The driver apparently remained at the scene after the collision.

“We want justice for our little cousin because our family is suffering,” said cousin Deaidra Gren.

Family members told WISN 12 News they do not know who the driver was. 12 News is not releasing the child’s name at this time as the sheriff’s office is working to notify the family.

While the sheriff’s office’s investigation is ongoing, officials have not yet released any information about the circumstances of the crash or whether charges have been filed against the driver.
