Gordon Ramsay has admitted he is “lucky to be here” after suffering horrific injuries in a cycling accident.

The celebrity chef posted a video on his social media channels on Saturday (June 15) after he was shaken by an accident in Connecticut.

In the clip, it is clearly visible that Ramsay’s hands were shaking as he described the horrific ordeal.

“Hey guys, this is Gordon. I want to share some very important news with you all,” he began.

“You know how much I love cycling, triathlon and Ironman (races) etc and unfortunately this week I had a really bad accident which has really shaken me and honestly I’m glad to be here.

“These incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses at the hospitals have taken care of me this week. They have been amazing, but honestly, you have to wear a helmet.”

Ramsay added: “I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care… these helmets cost money, but they are essential. Even on short rides, kids have to wear a helmet now.”

“I’m glad I can stand here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. But somehow I’m getting through it.”

At one point in the video, Ramsay lifts up his shirt and shows viewers a huge dark purple bruise across his torso.

And although it looks very painful, the 57-year-old confirmed in a caption to the video that he did not break any bones.
