Gordon Ramsay reveals horrific bike accident he was ‘lucky’ to survive

“I’m lucky to be here,” Ramsay said.

For Father’s Day, Gordon Ramsay shares a sobering message to remind us that life is fragile and we must take precautions. The celebrity chef revealed that he recently had a near-fatal accident while cycling. He is bruised and shaken, but incredibly grateful to have survived.

In a video shared on social media, Ramsay spoke about the harrowing experience, saying: “I want to share a very important message with all of you. You know how much I love cycling, triathlons, Ironman and so on. This week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident and it really shook me up.”

Aware of the seriousness of the situation, Ramsay admitted, “Honestly? I’m lucky to be here.” He then thanked the medical professionals who treated him: “I am grateful to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who took care of me and examined me.”

Ramsay then stressed the importance of wearing a helmet, regardless of the distance or duration of the ride. “You have to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short the ride is… I’m glad I’m standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m getting through it somehow.”

The Hell’s Kitchen Star lifted his white chef’s shirt to reveal a huge dark bruise covering his entire left side. This bruise was a stark reminder of the potential consequences this could have resulted in.

Ramsay also shared a before and after picture of himself with his bike, contrasting a pre-crash shot with the remains of his body suit and helmet after the crash. The caption to the post read: “Sound ON and please swipe through… as tomorrow is #FathersDay I have a very important message for all the dads out there… WEAR A HELMET!”

Ramsay, who has competed in numerous triathlons and cycling races, was visibly shaken by the incident. However, this brush with death has underlined the need to make safety a top priority, especially when engaging in high-risk activities.

Then, in honor of Father’s Day, Ramsay spoke about the unique characteristics and interests of his six children, whom he has with wife Tana. While his 26-year-old daughter Holly shares his love for “fast cars and expensive toys,” his twin son Jack, a member of the United Kingdom’s Royal Marines, has a completely different ambition. “Unfortunately, he looks like me and everywhere he goes he asks, ‘Are you Gordon Ramsey’s son?'” Ramsay shared Peoplewhich explains Jack’s desire to grow his hair long and have a beard so as not to resemble his famous father.

Ramsay also spoke fondly of his eldest daughter Megan, describing her as “strict and disciplined” – qualities that have served her well in her career as a police officer. Tilly, who recently served as a judge on MasterChef Junior alongside her father, was affectionately described as “feisty” by her doting dad, who quipped: “She’s got my personality. So good luck to her boyfriend!” The proud dad also couldn’t resist gushing about his two youngest sons Oscar and Jesse, noting Oscar’s “biggest feet at school” and Jesse’s impressively long fingers for just “a couple of months”.
