Here’s a heat wave for Buffalo and WNY!

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) – A great weekend awaits the Buffalo-Niagara area ahead of a heat wave that will arrive at just the right time for the upcoming work week as we join much of the rest of the country grappling with the crackling. temperatures.

National Weather Service meteorologist Phillip Pandolfo told WBEN that the heat and humidity will arrive Monday and be at their worst Tuesday and Wednesday and continue through Thursday.

“We expect high temperatures on Monday to be in the upper 80s. Beginning Tuesday and Wednesday, these values ​​will quickly climb into the lower 90s.”

Higher humidity levels will also bring the heat index into the upper 90s and sometimes lower 100s at the height of the heat wave. For context, daytime highs average in the upper 70s for Buffalo during the days of June 17-21.

The highest temperatures will be in inland portions of Western New York, and it will be a few degrees cooler in the shadow of Lake Erie along coastal areas.

“We will monitor this heat from Monday until Thursday, potentially even beyond,” notes Pandolfo.
