Suburban man was arrested for allegedly viewing child porn while serving a search warrant

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. – A Lake Zurich man was allegedly looking at child pornography when police responded to a search warrant Tuesday.

Lake County Sheriff’s detectives obtained a search warrant for the home of Jared Honegger, 24, in the 0-100 block of Terrace Lane after receiving a tip about suspected possession of child pornography.

Authorities and a tactical team executed the search warrant Tuesday. Police allege that during the search, Honegger was found in his bedroom watching a child pornography video with the child, who was under 10 years old.

Honegger was arrested at the scene. Forensic investigators analyzed his phone and claimed to have found over 90 images and videos of child pornography. Many of the victims were under 13 years old, police said.

He was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.
