Bauchi Civil Service Commission suspends three senior officials for serious misconduct

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has suspended three senior officials of the state civil service for serious misconduct bordering on breach of trust, forgery and embezzlement, contrary to the provisions of Public Service Regulations 0327 (a) and (b).

In a statement, the Commission’s Information Officer, Saleh Umar, said the suspension was discussed and approved during the Commission’s 21st plenary session on 11 June 2024 in its conference room.

Suspended were Yakubu Muhammad, Chief Accountant GL.14 in the Ministry of Health, Surajo Shehu Ilela, Chief Executive Officer (acct) in the State Ministry of Finance and Umar Muhammad Misau, Acting Deputy Chief Administrative Officer GL.13.

In addition, during the plenary session, his acting appointment as Establishment and Servicom Matters Bereau was withdrawn, meaning that he will retain his actual rank of Principal Administrative Officer at Grade 12 pending the outcome of further investigations.

During the meeting, the Commission also confirmed the appointment of a State Librarian at Grade 17 and a Director of Technical Services. Four acting Directors were also confirmed, two acting Deputy Directors of Administration and Human Resources were reviewed and approved.

The Commission also approved the confirmation of two officials as acting Chief Administrative Officers at grade 14 and Principal Administrative Officers at grade 12 respectively.

The statement further said that all submissions came from the Office of the Head of State for the Civil Service.

In his remarks at the end of the plenary session, the Chairman of the Commission, Alh. Abubakar Usman IION, Madakin Bunun Bauchi, urged the appointees to lead exemplary lives, display good conduct and exemplary behavior through dedication and loyalty and adhere to the rules and regulations and applicable circulars as a guide in the discharge of their duties in order to reciprocate the kind gesture of the present determined administration of His Excellency the Governor of the State, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, Kauran Bauchi, Jagaban Katagum for the progress and development of the State.
