Rapper Enchanting, former protégé of Gucci Mane, dies at 26

Rising rapper Enchanting has died at the age of 26 after reportedly being placed on life support, her former mentor and fellow rapper Gucci Mane confirmed.

The 44-year-old hitmaker of “Wake up in the Sky” mourned the death of his former protégé, whose real name was Channing Nicole Larry, in a tribute on social media on Tuesday.

“So sad to say rest in peace to such an amazing young lady, a true star, we will all miss you Chant @luvenchanting 😢 💔,” the 1017 Records founder wrote under a photo of her on Instagram.

The rising star died after her family took her off life support after she lost consciousness the day before.

The cause of death is not yet known.

In a statement to The Shade Room, a spokesperson for her management team said the rapper suffered from withdrawal symptoms and overdosed.

“She’s been coming to my house for the last four days to get clean. She’s been trying her best and I’ve done everything I can to help her, she’s been trying,” they told the outlet.

According to her 1017 Records profile, which is still active on the label’s website, the rapper described her musical style as “trap-n-blues.”

She had previously spoken about changing her style after explaining that she sounded like “a little baby” at the beginning of her career.

“I had to get comfortable with my voice,” she said. “Staying in the studio and constantly recording helps me find the style I’m good at.”

“Other people can relate to the things I say. I can help someone in any situation, they can listen to me and find peace,” Larry added.

Enchanting signed to Mane’s label 1017 Records in 2020 and appeared on three compilation albums before leaving the label last year.

The rapper began pursuing a music career at the age of 18, shortly after graduating from high school.

“Luv Scarred/No Luv” was their last studio album, released in February 2023.
