Chicago man missing since December found dead on Southwest Side

CHICAGO – A Chicago man missing since December has been found dead.

The Cook County Coroner’s Office identified 47-year-old Oscar Valenzuela as the man Chicago police found unconscious in the New City neighborhood on the southwest side of the city on Tuesday night.


Police said they found the unconscious man, later identified by the medical examiner’s office as Valenzuela, in the 5300 block of South Hermitage Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene and police are treating the death as a homicide.

No one is in custody and detectives from Area Three are investigating.

In early March, police first asked the public for help in locating Valenzuela, saying he disappeared on December 12 and had not been heard from since.
