BeltLine construction at Monroe and 10th

An improvement project at 10th and Monroe will result in the evening closure of the intersection from June 9 to June 14.

ATLANTA — Construction on the Atlanta BeltLine is scheduled to begin Sunday for an improvement project at the intersection of 10th Street and Monroe Drive, according to a BeltLine press release.

The intersection will be fully closed beginning the evening of June 9, with planned 24-hour closures through the evening of June 14. In the event of bad weather, the closure will be postponed from June 16 to 20.

Following the full closures, single lanes will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to complete sidewalk construction, which is expected to be completed by September, according to the release.

Detour routes will take travelers via Kanuga to Virginia and Charles Allen to 8th Street. Park Tavern will remain open along 10th Street, officials added in the release.

The project is part of the ongoing construction of the Northeast Trail – Segment 1, which aims to “improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists” in the region.

The project includes a bike lane on 10th Street with direct access to the BeltlLine, a raised crosswalk, and improved crossing and pedestrian signaling at intersections, all to improve safety for trail and road users. pedestrians. The new traffic lights will also help manage traffic flow and improve safety.
