23-year-old dead after early morning stabbing in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – A 23-year-old man is dead after being stabbed in Springfield early Saturday morning, according to Springfield police.

Police said officers responded to the 2500 block of East North Grand around 4:33 a.m. after a man had been stabbed. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim in a vehicle, bleeding from a stab wound.


He was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital for treatment but did not survive.

Police also responded to the 3000 block of Louise Lane, where the stabbing is believed to have occurred. They quickly located a suspect who is currently being questioned by investigators.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is currently available.
