Isolated severe storms are possible this evening

NORTHEASTERN INDIANA (21 lives) – The first round of storms has spread across the region. Another round of storms is expected this evening, bringing with it the risk of severe storms.

The First alert weather day Due to the possibility of strong to severe storms, the closure will remain in effect for the remainder of the evening. The primary threat from these storms is damaging winds and hail, but there remains a small chance of isolated tornadoes developing.

A tornado warning is in effect for parts of Steuben County until 7 p.m

A tornado warning is in effect for Noble, Huntington, Whitely and Wabash counties in northeastern Indiana until 9 p.m. tonight.

The big question right now remains whether there will be some sunshine or not. If we see some sunshine, the temperature will rise and there will be a greater chance of isolated severe thunderstorms developing. If the other scenario occurs with partly to mostly cloudy skies, the risk of severe weather appears to be lower.

The timing of the storms appears to be somewhere in between 5-9pm Eastern to the region. Strong storm confidence is expected at this point, with an isolated severe storm also possible this evening. The Storm Prediction Center is taking a fairly aggressive approach as these storms place much of the Hoosier State in a Severe Weather Danger Level 3 out of 5.
