A boating accident at Harriman Reservoir leaves a victim in respiratory distress

WILMINGTON – Officers from the Windham County Sheriff’s Office participated in a multi-agency response Saturday following a boating accident at Harriman Reservoir in which a victim was reportedly not breathing.

The incident, which required significant response, involved personnel from the Wilmington and Whittingham fire departments, Deerfield Valley Emergency Services, Wilmington Police Department, Dover Police Department, Vermont State Police and Vermont Fish & Wildlife.

In addition, a helicopter from New York City’s LifeNet emergency service was dispatched to the scene of the accident along with two deputies from the sheriff’s office.

According to authorities, calls about the boating accident came in early afternoon.

Rescue teams worked together to provide emergency services.

Further details about the victim’s condition and the cause of the accident were not disclosed.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and authorities are expected to provide updates as new information becomes available.
