The witness said he observed and recorded Hull kissing, hugging and having involuntary sexual intercourse with the dementia patient on Friday, April 17, according to a statement from the Jefferson City Police Department obtained by the News Tribune. Another witness also said the victim was in an advanced stage of mental impairment and because of her condition, she often called men, including Hull, by her late husband’s name because she believed it was him.

Hull reportedly admitted to authorities that he had sex with the victim and knew it was illegal. He is being held in the Cole County Jail. A bail review hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 3. A preliminary hearing date has been set for Thursday, June 27.

In another incident in Missouri earlier this month, a man allegedly murdered his wife while she was in the hospital because he could not care for her or pay for her treatment. Ronnie Wiggs is accused of strangling his wife on her hospital bed after a procedure to replace a dialysis port. He left the hospital after the murder, but was brought back to visit her shortly afterward by his wife’s son.

He then allegedly said, “I did it. I killed her. I choked her.” Co-workers heard and called police. When investigators arrived, Ronnie allegedly told them that he had covered his wife’s nose and mouth so she couldn’t scream and then choked her.

He added that he was depressed and simply couldn’t afford her medical bills or care. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He faces 10 to 30 years in prison or life with the possibility of parole for his actions.
