Weather warning day for severe holiday storms in Maryland

BALTIMORE – Your Memorial Day is expected to be a weather-related day. The WJZ First Alert Weather Team has issued a WARNING DAY for the possibility of severe storms.

Storms can include damaging winds, large hail, and even isolated tornadoes. The greatest risk for severe storms occurs in the afternoon and evening hours.

The intensity and range of the storms will depend on how our morning unfolds. If we have a decent amount of showers in the first half of the day, that would reduce the risk of severe storms in the afternoon. So far, it looks like it will stay relatively dry until midday, so the potential for strong storms remains.

There may still be a few isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday, but it will be calm for most of the day.

Wednesday is expected to be another day of good weather with isolated showers and thunderstorms. The storms will be strongest in the afternoon and evening. Some of the storms may bring gusty winds and small hail.

Calm and clear weather finally arrives on Thursday and it looks set to stay that way until at least the start of next weekend. Expect sunshine with highs around 21 degrees.
