  • Galveston Naval Museum Memorial Day Ceremony and Museum Admission | Monday May 27 | FREE – Among historic ships, this annual ceremony includes a speech recognizing fallen service members, as well as live music, refreshments and free museum admission until 11 a.m. 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Latin House Pool Party at Space Cowboy | Monday May 27 – The Heights House Hotel Pool Bar celebrates Memorial Day in style. Come enjoy a full day of Latin house music performed by a team of DJs, plus food and drink specials, vendors, mermaids in the pool and much more. $15 and up. 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Countdown to Graduation on Imagen Venues | Monday May 27 – High school seniors and juniors are invited to celebrate their academic achievements with an evening of excitement, laughter and memories. Event highlights include two stages featuring a lineup of EDM and hip-hop artists, free carnival rides, tasty food, 360° photo booths, karaoke and more. No alcohol is allowed; High school ID required for entry. $55 and up. 6 p.m.
  • Dance Source Houston presents Barnstorm Dance Fest at MATCH | From Tuesday May 28 to Saturday June 1 – Celebrating the breadth, depth and diversity of dance in Greater Houston and beyond, this festival is an exciting cross-section of dance genres.   • A conversation with Kevin Kwan at the Asia Society Texas Center | Friday May 31 – The emblematic author of Crazy Rich Asians trilogy stops by for a conversation about his career, working in Hollywood, and growing up in suburban Houston. He will also be there to sign his new book, Lies and marriages. $60; including a copy of the book. $120 includes access to reception. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Samara Joy in concert at Miller Outdoor Theater | Friday May 31 | FREE – The Herman Park stage welcomes an established star of the jazz world when Samara Joy, 24, from the Bronx, arrives in Houston. With three Grammy wins already and chart-topping debuts, Samara Joy is one of the most exciting and freshest voices in the genre today. 8:30 p.m.
  • Sapphic Factory: A Queer Joy Modern Dance Party at White Oak Music Hall | Friday May 31 – Come dance and be free to the music of Muna, Phoebe Bridgers, Kim Petras, Tegan and Sara, and many more in this celebration of life as you are. 18 years and over. $16 and up. 8:30 p.m.
  • Island Vybz Reggae Fest at Beach Central in Galveston | Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1 – Head to the heart of the island along the seawall for this two-day celebration of Caribbean culture, music and community spirit. Expect live entertainment, food, dancing and more. $20 and up. Hours vary.
  • Far East Fest at Chapman and Kirby | Saturday June 1st | FREE – Celebrate Houston’s AAPI small business community with a day of food, drinks, fun and a diverse selection of small businesses selling unique items, from traditional Asian cuisine to artisan and artisan goods. From noon to 6 p.m.
  • Water Lantern Festival at City Place | Saturday June 1st – Experience the magic of thousands of lanterns as the soft lights reflect on the water in spring. You will receive a paper lantern, an LED candle, a drawstring memorial bag and a market to write down the wishes and hopes of your loved ones while you participate in this ancient ritual. $28.33 and up. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

  • 35th Annual Kings & Queens Accordion Concert at Miller Outdoor Theater | Saturday June 1st | FREE – This highly anticipated annual concert of the state’s most dynamic artists will feature Las Fenix, 3-time Grammy Award winner Sunny Sauceda, as well as Marcus Ardoin and Da Zydeco Legendz. The evening is a showcase of the various styles of accordion music played in Texas. 7 p.m.
  • Estéréomance in concert in Axelrad | Saturday June 1st | FREE – Dreamy Texan art pop band performs at beer garden Third Ward. The group describes itself as a cultural hybrid of the border city of El Paso and the neighboring city of Juarez, and as the liberated voice of all the border emotions that cry out to be heard. 7 p.m.
  • The selfish giant at the Asia Society Texas | Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2 – In this ingenious production by Taiwanese theater The Puppet & Its Double Theater, The selfish giant brings to life Oscar Wilde’s beloved story of a selfish giant who discovers the true meaning of friendship and generosity through the innocence of children. $20. Saturday 7 p.m.; Sunday 2 p.m.
  • Solar dust Opening weekend at POST Houston | Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2 – Attend this brand new exhibition that merges light, sound and technology to create an experience of particles floating in space. Making its U.S. debut, the work by Italian art collective Quiet Ensemble also serves to preview POST’s new art space/nightclub experience, Art Club. $7. Hours vary.
  • Jazzy Sundays: Melvin Johnson and the Electric-Akoustics at Discovery Green | Sunday June 2 | FREE – The spring concert series concludes with its final performance of Jazzy Sundays, held at Discovery Green. Melvin Johnson and the Electric-Akoustics title, with the opening of JHU. 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Livingston Memorial Cup at Houston Polo Club | Sunday June 2 – Experience a world-class polo match, parade of players, live music, expert announcements, half-time champagne stomping and a special trophy presentation.
