Mount Vernon Mayor Patterson-Howard says she has returned to work on a hybrid basis following a health incident

Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard announced that she underwent a medical procedure due to a health incident she suffered last week.

Patterson-Howard said she felt exhausted at work last Tuesday. When she got home, she couldn’t breathe and her husband took her to the hospital, where it was determined she had an acute pulmonary embolism.

She had surgery and said she is feeling much better now.

Patterson-Howard thanked everyone for their support in a social media post.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for all of your incredible thoughts, your prayers, your well wishes, your calls, your texts, your flowers, your fruit and just all the expressions of love and support that I have received over the last week,” she said.

Patterson-Howard added that she is returning to work on a hybrid basis.
