Road rage incident leads to standoff in Statesville, police say – WSOC TV

A suspect is in custody following a standoff Wednesday afternoon, Statesville police said.

Police said he fired into a car, leading to a police standoff south of downtown Statesville.

Nearly 15 officers with guns drawn surrounded the home on Fieldstone Circle, Channel 9’s Dave Faherty reported around 4:15 p.m

The suspect’s mother tried to get her son out using a police megaphone.

Family members said he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and was a former military member.

The police chief said the suspect fired into the car after it drove into an armory at the end of the street.

They found the suspect’s vehicle about two blocks away from his home and cordoned off the neighborhood so residents could not go home.

Police arrested the suspect around 6 p.m.

No further details were revealed.
