2 inmates dead, several injured after attack at Lawton Correctional Facility | News

LAWTON, Okla. – An inmate-on-inmate attack at the Lawton Correctional Facility left two inmates dead and several injured Friday.

A spokesman for GEO Group, which owns the facility, said the May 10 incident involved several inmates.

Two occupants are dead and several injuries have been reported, including an officer who suffered minor injuries. GEO Group said two of the injured occupants were taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Geo Group released a statement on Saturday evening:

“We can confirm that an inmate-on-inmate assault involving multiple inmates occurred at Lawton Correctional Facility on May 10, 2024. The incident resulted in two deaths and multiple injuries to inmates, with two inmates being transported to hospital for further treatment.” The health and safety of everyone in our care has always been our top priority and we do not tolerate any acts of violence. The incident is currently under investigation by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. and at this time we are unable to provide further comment while the investigation is ongoing.”
