Arkansas man killed in crash in southeast Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 40-year-old Arkansas man was killed in a crash in southeast Kansas on Monday. It happened just after 3 p.m. on US Highway 169 north of 150th Road.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Chevy truck driven by Branson C. Dean of Alma, Arkansas, was traveling southbound and passing vehicles on the northbound shoulder. His truck crashed head-on into a northbound Chevy Traverse. Dean died in the crash. The driver of the Traverse, 51, from Jefferson City, Missouri, was seriously injured. He was taken to KU Medical Center.

According to KHP, both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
