Man sentenced to 60 years in prison for sexually exploiting a young child

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – A man was sentenced Monday, July 29, to 60 years in a federal prison for using a young child to produce child pornography.

Jimmy Creekmore, 38, who was recently convicted in state court of sexual assault and child abuse, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kalamazoo to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Judge Paul Maloney gave Creekmore the maximum sentence – 30 years in prison for each count – and ordered that the sentences be served consecutively.

According to a settlement, in late 2021, Creekmore used a one-year-old to “perform sexually explicit acts … with the purpose of creating digital photographs thereof.”

He submitted the photos via Google Photos, the agreement states.

He later took similar pictures and attempted to sexually abuse the child, the agreement states.

Last Thursday, Creekmore was sentenced by Muskegon County Circuit Court Judge Annette Smedley to 50 to 100 years in prison for first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree child abuse.

Prosecutors say Creekmore beat and tortured a 13-year-old boy and, as punishment, temporarily choked him and pushed him down the stairs.

Police began investigating in January 2023, when the teenager was forced to shovel snow in temperatures around 12 degrees. Hours later, the teenager went to a neighbor’s house because of the cold.

The neighbor noticed several injuries.

During the investigation, police found child pornography on Creekmore’s electronic device, police said.

In a letter read last week by Muskegon County Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Norton, the teenager wrote: “I wish I could push you down the stairs and I wish I could bang your head against the wall. … But I’m not like you.”

Creekmore said he cries almost every day because of this.
