Man in Harwinton dies after being hit by a driver: Police – NBC Connecticut

A 24-year-old man died Sunday morning in Harwinton after being struck by a vehicle, state police said. The driver of the vehicle that struck him was also injured, state police said.

They said Kevin Christopher Gangell of Harwinton was on the shoulder of Clearview Avenue when he was struck around 11:53 a.m.

According to state police, the driver left the road and landed on the shoulder, where he struck Gangell, before crashing into a rock wall.

Gangell was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, where he died, state police said.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Waterbury Hospital.

The state police are investigating.
