CCSO assists Marshall County with drug investigation

As announced last week, the Marshall County and Calloway County Sheriff’s Offices recently worked together to arrest several suspects on drug charges.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, officers observed a vehicle drive into the parking lot of a church in the early morning hours of July 21. After officers stopped the vehicle to determine why the occupants were in the parking lot at that hour of the morning, they discovered that the individuals were carrying illegal drugs.

MCSO arrested the driver, Bryan Spry, 41, of Owensboro, and charged him with trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense (more than 2 grams of methamphetamine); first-degree possession of a controlled substance (opiates); third-degree possession of a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription controlled substance in improper container. The vehicle’s passenger, Cynthia Clements, 33, also of Owensboro, was also arrested for trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree (more than 2 grams of methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also on July 21, Marshall County officials arrested Lisa Russell, 49, of Calvert City, on numerous warrants, including a warrant from Graves County District Court for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Three warrants were issued for Russell from Marshall County courts, including one from Marshall District Court for violation of probation. Another warrant was a warrant for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than 2 grams of methamphetamine), and the final warrant for Russell was issued from Marshall District Court for failure to appear.

The MCSO also said the following arrests were the result of joint investigations over the past few months:

• Bobby Williams, 49, of Benton, was arrested on July 18 and served with two warrants for drug trafficking in the first degree, first offense (methamphetamine), second offense or greater offense (opiates).

• Shawn Davis, 49, of Hardin, was arrested July 19 and charged with reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or eluding police (motor vehicle) and second-degree fleeing or eluding police (on foot). Davis was also served with a warrant for conspiracy to traffic in controlled substances (first offense) and repeat felon in the first degree.

• Joshua Dehaven, 46, of Benton, was encountered on foot on US 641 North on July 20 and arrested on a warrant. Dehaven was arrested on a warrant for trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense. After his arrest, he was searched and officers said they found more methamphetamine, marijuana, baggies and smoking devices. Dehaven was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A person will be punished until his or her guilt has been proven in court.
