Three dead in car crash between Tarago and Bungendore

Three passengers were killed and the driver injured in a car crash near Tarago in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales.

At around 1.10pm, emergency services were called to the intersection of Bungendore and Collector Roads after reports that a car had left the road, overturned and ended up on its roof.

When New South Wales Police and other emergency services arrived at the scene, they found a man and two women trapped in the car.

All three died at the scene of the accident.

According to police, the driver, a man in his 20s, managed to escape from the vehicle under his own power and was taken to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries. He will undergo a mandatory blood test.

Specialized accident investigators on site try to determine the course of the accident and prepare a report for the autopsy.

Bungendore Road is closed in both directions between Collector Road and Kings Highway and north to the township of Tarago.

According to police, the road will be closed for “several hours.”

Motorists are advised to use the Kings Highway, Goulburn Road and Braidwood Road when travelling between Bungendore and Tarago.
