3 Observations From the First Week of Buffalo Bills Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills wrapped up their first week of training camp at St. John Fisher University against the Mafia Bills. They will take Saturday off before returning to the field on Sunday, July 28. Overall, the Bills have had a strong start to training camp and will look to continue their momentum in week two before returning to Orchard Park for the return of the Blue and Red practice at Highmark Stadium on August 2.

The first week of training camp ended with a warm visit from Kim Pegula, who helped sort out the conflict between the two teams on Friday. With the first three days of practice complete, we take a look at three observations fans should be aware of heading into Week 2.

The Bills’ rising star defensive tackle had his breakout season last year and will look to continue that. His presence was immediately noticeable to the point where he caused a lot of disruption to the offense. Reporter Sal Capaccio mentioned that Oliver continually caused problems for the offense.

If Oliver can continue to dominate and put pressure on the offense, it will be exciting to see what he can bring in 2024. The Bills just have to hope he stays consistent with his performances.

The rookie receiver hasn’t just turned heads this offseason with his outgoing personality, but his play is also drawing attention. According to Alex Brasky, Coleman has shined right from the start of training camp, even noting that Coleman has had “multiple” touchdown receptions throughout camp.

Coleman has the argument that he is in the best situation of any starting receiver. Having Josh Allen as his quarterback and the chance to become Buffalo’s No. 1 receiver is an opportunity that few players get. If Coleman can live up to his potential, this Buffalo offense could be dangerous this season.

There’s nothing better than having your quarterback and wide receiver on the same page. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady explained how Allen was able to step up and “take more charge of the Bills’ offense,” according to Alex Brasky.

With Allen stepping up, it shows us that he has complete control of the offense. It’s not that he wasn’t before, but Brady raises an important point about why there are more important factors than just knowing the game. With a nearly brand new receivers room, that will be crucial to proper development within the offense.

As training camp continues, it will be important for Bills fans to keep an eye on the training camp battles and hope that no serious injuries occur. The Bills will return to the practice field on Sunday at 9:45 a.m.
