British soldier in uniform stabbed multiple times in street attack – POLITICO

There is no information yet about the motive for the attack; investigations are ongoing.

The stabbing occurred near Brompton Barracks, the headquarters of the 1st Regiment of the British Army’s Royal School of Military Engineering.

British Defence Secretary John Healey echoed Starmer’s words: “It is shocking to hear of an attack on a soldier in Kent. My thoughts are with the soldier and his family who deserve privacy at this difficult time,” he also wrote on X.

British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed she was receiving updates from Kent police and wrote: “The stabbing of a soldier in Kent last night is shocking and horrifying. Our thoughts are with the soldier and his family.”

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A British Army spokesman said it was “very regrettable to confirm that a soldier has suffered serious injuries in an attack”, adding: “We will continue to work closely with Kent Police to understand what happened and assist with the investigation.”
