The water shuttle from Oakland to Alameda will cease operations indefinitely on opening day

(KRON) — Water transportation between Oakland and Alameda suspended operations indefinitely on the shuttle’s long-awaited opening day Wednesday.

San Francisco Bay Services, the parent company of the East Bay Shuttle, said it “regrettably” had to suspend service around 6 p.m. due to mechanical problems.

SF Bay Services did not disclose how long the shuttle will be out of service. They said it will remain closed for “at least the remainder of the day.”

“We’re so excited for everyone who wants to try it out,” announced the company under the name X, formerly Twitter.

SF Bay Ferry said news of whether or not the shuttle will run will be announced on Thursday.
