MENDOTA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man found dead in a cornfield outside Mendota has been identified and two men, a father and son, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in his death, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officers said they were dispatched shortly before 8:30 a.m. on July 5 to check on an injured person near Shields and Fairfax Avenue, just outside Mendota.

When sheriff’s officers arrived, they were directed to a cornfield where they found a dead man, later identified as 37-year-old Antonio Torres Ochoa of Mendota.

Investigators say they gathered information that identified 38-year-old Javier Medina, aka Juju, as the prime suspect. Investigators visited his home, executed a search warrant and arrested Medina on suspicion of murder. They also arrested his father, 61-year-old Javier Medina, on charges of accessory to murder.

Sheriff’s officials say the victim and suspects knew each other. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Sheriff’s Detectives Jesse Gloria at 559-600-8217 and/or Oscar Iniguez at 559-600-8201.
