Keri Russell jokes that her “sexual activity” led to the girls from the “Mickey Mouse Club” being kicked off the show

Keri Russell joked that she was kicked out of the ’90s reboot of the Mickey Mouse Club because she was “sexually active.”

The “Mission: Impossible III” star, who appeared in the series from 1991 to 1993, expressed a theory on Tuesday’s podcast episode “Dinner’s On Me” about why she left the series at age 17.

“It’s usually girls who seem sexually active,” she joked. “And I was probably one of the first. They say, ‘She’s out. That one’s gone.'”

“Pregnant Mouseketeers are not on the list,” 48-year-old Russell later joked.

The alleged age restriction did not apply to male Mouseketeers because actors Tony Lucca and JC Chasez, who appeared on the show from 1991 to 1995, left the show when they turned 19.

“The boys stayed until they were about 19,” the actress continued.

“I thought to myself, ‘By the way, I had sex with this person, so I know they had sex.’ Seriously.”

While Russell did not reveal who she was having an affair with, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were also among the Mousketeers.

“You know, girls and sexuality,” she added. “And by the way, I had the body of a 12-year-old boy. There’s nothing really sexy about me, but I think that’s what made Disney nervous.”

Timberlake, Gosling, Spears and Aguilera joined the show in 1993 and left in 1995 when they were about 15 years old.

Russell had previously admitted that she was lucky to have survived her time as a Mouseketeer “alive,” telling W Magazine in August 2023 that she had emerged with “common sense” and “dignity.”

“Not everyone got out alive,” she said.

The “Waitress” star also said that she was the “least talented” cast member on the show compared to Spears, Gosling, Timberlake and Aguilera.

When asked how she got the role, Russell said, “I was literally the least talented kid there. I’m not kidding. When I look at those kids, I wonder: Why on earth did they choose me?”
