NYSP investigates rollover crash in Jefferson County | WWTI

HOUNSFIELD, NY (WWTI) – New York State Police are investigating a tractor-trailer crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly before 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday, police officers responded to a personal injury crash on State Route 3 in the city of Hounsfield.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer driven by 27-year-old Nicholas Aldous of Sackets Harbor was traveling east on State Route 3 and was preparing to turn north onto State Route 180 when the load shifted and the tractor-trailer tipped onto its passenger side, spilling 130 gallons of diesel fuel and motor oil.

Aldous was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center with minor injuries and received several traffic tickets.

State Police received assistance on scene from the NYSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Jefferson County Sheriffs, NY DEC Spill Response, Sackets Harbor Fire Department, and Sackets Harbor Ambulance.
